Thompson Coburn is pleased to announce that experienced labor and employment attorney Genevieve LeFevour has joined the Firm as a partner in our Chicago office. Genevieve joins Thompson Coburn from Johnson & Bell in Chicago, where she was a shareholder.
“Genevieve’s diverse client relationships and deep experience in both HR counseling and litigation make her a wonderful addition to our Labor and Employment practice,” said Cliff Godiner, co-chair of Thompson Coburn’s employment group. “She has strong ties to the Chicago business and legal communities and will be a fantastic asset to our clients across the country.”
“I’m thrilled to join Thompson Coburn’s employment practice and work alongside such a talented group of practitioners and people,” said Genevieve. “I look forward to meeting and collaborating with my new Thompson Coburn colleagues across the country and achieving outstanding results for our clients — whether in high-stakes employment disputes and litigation, complex labor matters, or the incredibly wide range of employment law questions that companies face each day.”
Genevieve assists employers in a range of industries with employment litigation and the successful handling of local, state, federal and administrative filings. Her client base includes private security companies, loss prevention companies, sports venue and event management companies, law firms, agricultural companies and auto dealerships.
She advises clients on compensation practices and Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) compliance, record retention and mandatory reporting, as well as on separation agreements, policy and procedure review, and related issues.
On labor matters, Genevieve has handled arbitration hearings and addressed National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) charges, grievances, and union avoidance. On litigated matters, she oversees all aspects of cases up through and including trial. She has tried both bench and jury trials in Cook County and Lake County. Her trial in Lake County resulted in a defense verdict for her client. Further, she secured defense verdicts in Cook County in an employment matter and chancery matter in 2018 and 2019 respectively.
Genevieve is the first female graduate of Loyola Academy to serve on its Board of Directors. She also served on the Board of Little Heroes League, which allows medically complex children to live their best lives through care coordination.
Genevieve is a native Chicagoan and is proud to come from a large Chicago family. She currently resides in the Northern Suburbs of Illinois with her husband and baby, whom she describes as the “lights of her life.”
