Thompson Coburn LLP (“Thompson Coburn,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) takes your privacy seriously.  This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) explains how Thompson Coburn protects the privacy of information collected through this Site. The Policy describes that personal information may be used, to whom it may be disclosed, and how it is safeguarded. Unless indicated otherwise, this Policy applies only to personal information collected through Thompson Coburn’s websites, microsites, or mobile sites where this Policy is displayed or linked by us (the “Site”). 

Updates to this Policy are effective immediately when posted at https://www.thompsoncoburn.com/firm/privacy. You should review this Policy regularly to ensure you agree with any changes that are made. Your use of the Site constitutes your consent to the terms of this Policy. If you cannot or do not consent to the terms of this Policy (as it may be revised from time to time), you must not use this Site.

Information Collected Directly From You

We may collect personal information that you provide to us, including your name, address, email address, company, position, physical address, telephone number, fax number, and preferences.

This information is collected when you register for certain areas of the Site, contact us for information, respond to surveys, subscribe to receive information, or register for webinars, conferences and other events. Information We Collect Automatically

Biographical Information: We may automatically collect information about you when you visit the Site, such as your gender, your age, and your online interests.

Navigational Information:  We automatically collect information related to how you got to the Site, such as the site from which you came, and the site to which you navigate after leaving our Site, what pages you visit on the Site, how long you stay on pages, how many pages you visit, and if you complete any forms on the Site. Some of this information is anonymous, as it does not permit us to identify you personally. However, we may associate this information with your personal information if you provide it.

Technical Specifics:  We automatically collect information related to the technology you used to access the Site, such as the type of device (mobile, desktop, laptop, tablet, etc.) you used, the brand of device you used, the internet browser you used, and the service provider and network used to access the Site.

Cookies and Clear gif files and Google Analytics:  This Site may also use “cookies” and other technologies to recognize users, customize their experience, or target marketing. A cookie is a small text file that a website’s server places on a user’s computer, mobile phone, or other device. The cookie transmits information back to the website’s server about the browsing activities of the user.  This includes information such as pages and content viewed, the time and duration of visits, and what links a user may have clicked on the Site. California Privacy Rights: Do Not Track & Behavioral Advertising

This Site does not currently respond to “Do Not Track” signals, and does not authorize the collection of personally identifiable information by third parties or sharing of personally identifiable information with third parties except as provided in this Policy.

Information We Share With Third Parties

We may provide your information to third parties who provide services to us or on our behalf, such as:

Vendors:  We may provide your information to vendors who help us do things like provide services features, monitor site activity, maintain databases, and  assist us in hosting microsites and mobile websites where you may provide personal information about yourself and others you know; and where they may observe information about you in the same way as described above.  We also use third party vendors to provide services related to hosting the Site, removing repetitive information from our users lists or accounts, providing technical support, processing and storing your information, updating your information records in our database (including both physical address and email address verification), and sending or coordinating the sending of marketing communications on our behalf.

Law Enforcement and Regulators:  We may disclose information about you with outside companies, organizations, or individuals if we have a good-faith belief that access, use, preservation, or disclosures of the information is reasonably necessary to: meet any applicable law, regulation, legal process or enforceable governmental request; detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues; protect against harm to the rights, property, or safety of our business, our users, or the public as require or permitted by law; and enforce our rights. 

Other Third Parties:  We may provide your information to persons or entities in connection with our own business operations, such as to our auditors or counsel, or in connection with a major change in our business (such as an acquisition), provided such persons or entities are subject to obligations to keep the information confidential and use the information only for the purpose we provided it to them.

While you are using the Site, you may be linked or directed to other third-party sites outside of our Site that are beyond our control.  Each of these third-party sites may have a privacy policy different from ours. Please review the privacy policies of these sites carefully. We are not responsible for any actions or policies of such third parties.

Security

We use administrative, physical, and technical security measures and safeguards that we consider appropriate to prevent the loss and misuse of data. We may have written agreements with specific clients related to data security that, as to those specific clients, may provide for additional or different security measures or obligations on our part.

However, the security of information transmitted through the Internet can never be guaranteed. No security system is impenetrable; and, because the Internet is an open global communications vehicle, we cannot and do not guarantee that information, during transmission through the Internet or while stored on our systems or otherwise, will be absolutely safe from intrusion by others, such as hackers. We also cannot and do not guarantee that any incidentally-collected confidential or personal information you choose to provide to us through our Site are maintained at levels of protection to meet specific needs or obligations you may have relating to that information.  

Please note that emails and other communications sent to us through the info@thompsoncoburn.com and online@thompsoncoburn.com email addresses are not encrypted and we strongly advise you not to communicate any confidential information through those addresses.

Privacy of Children

The Site is not intended for individuals under the age of 13. We do not intentionally collect personally identifiable information from users of this Site who are under the age of 13. If we become aware that a user of our Site is under the age of 13 and has provided personally identifiable information to us via our Site, we will remove that child’s personal information from our files.

Email Preferences

If you sign up to receive email, you may receive emails from Thompson Coburn. You may unsubscribe from these emails by following the removal instructions located at the bottom of each email. Opting out of any of these emails will not stop operational email messages such as password reset or account related information from Thompson Coburn.  

Visitors From Outside the U.S.

This is a U.S.-based Site and is intended for U.S. users. This Policy governs the information collected by Thompson Coburn including information collected at this Site irrespective of where you are located when you access it, browse it, interact with it, or submit information to it. This means your personal information may be stored outside of the province, state, and/or country in which you reside (including in the U.S.), and processed by us, an affiliate or a third-party service provider as described in this Policy.  Moreover, governmental and regulatory bodies that have jurisdiction (e.g., courts, regulators, and law enforcement agencies) may be entitled to access your personal information.

If we learn that you are located in the EU and are accessing this Site, we will not intentionally collect any information from you without your consent and will delete all automatically collected information concerning your visit to the Site.
