One Year to Implementation: What Companies Need to Know About the GDPR and EU Data Privacy Laws

Webinar

The clock is ticking for the international business community to ensure compliance with the European General Data Protection Regulation, which was adopted in 2016 and comes into full effect in May 2018. This overhaul of data privacy laws is aimed at protecting individuals’ privacy within the EU and around the world, presenting data privacy challenges of titanic proportions for companies in the U.S. and abroad. Companies in violation of the Regulation after May 2018 will face fines of up to 4 percent of worldwide revenue.

Presentation will cover:

  • An overview of U.S. data and privacy laws
  • The scope of the GDPR and it means for organizations in the U.S. (both with and without operations abroad)
  • A joint analysis of key differences between European and U.S. data  protection regulation, including fairness, accountability, data subject rights, breach notification and enforcement

Note: This is a U.S./U.K. joint webinar presentation.
