The clock is ticking for the international business community to ensure compliance with the European General Data Protection Regulation, which was adopted in 2016 and comes into full effect in May 2018. This overhaul of data privacy laws is aimed at protecting individuals’ privacy within the EU and around the world, presenting data privacy challenges of titanic proportions for companies in the U.S. and abroad. Companies in violation of the Regulation after May 2018 will face fines of up to 4 percent of worldwide revenue.
