Melissa Ventrone, chair of the Data Privacy & Security Practice Group at Thompson Coburn, will present a session on “Legal Responsibilities for a Data Breach” at the SANS Institute Data Breach Summit in Chicago next month. Melissa is also an adviser to the Aug. 18 conference.
She will discuss how difficult it can be to unravel the legal requirements of a data breach in light of 47 different state statutes and federal laws as well as contractual obligations.
The Summit brings together chief information security officers, risk managers, communication execs, insurers, attorneys, and security professionals to discover best practices for breach preparation and response.
The one-day event will be held at the Warwich Allerton Hotel, 701 N. Michigan Ave., in Chicago.
