Thompson Coburn is pleased to announce that corporate and securities attorney Susan Fisher has joined the Firm as a partner in our Dallas office. Susan was previously an attorney with Thompson & Knight.
Susan is a versatile corporate attorney who represents public and private companies, portfolio companies, private equity funds, and individual and institutional investors in mergers and acquisitions, complex financings and other strategic commercial transactions. For clients in a variety of industries, including oil and gas, renewable energy, health care and manufacturing, Susan has led work on domestic and foreign-based deals exceeding $1 billion.
“We’re thrilled to have an attorney of Susan’s caliber joining our national corporate practice,” said David J. Kaufman, a Chicago partner who serves as the co-chair of Thompson Coburn’s Corporate and Securities practice. “We’re excited to establish a beachhead in Dallas for our transactional and financing capabilities, and we couldn’t have found a better partner than Susan to serve our clients from this important market. She’s a fantastic attorney and a fantastic person.”
Susan, who is also a licensed CPA, earned her law degree from SMU Dedman School of Law. She also holds a Master in Professional Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin and a B.A. in Accounting and Spanish from Southwestern University. Before attending law school, Susan served as an auditor for a Big Four accounting firm, where she performed financial statement and internal controls audits for public and private companies.
Susan is a member of the 2020-2021 Class of the Leadership Arts Institute (LAI), a program of Dallas-based Business Council for the Arts that develops next-generation business leaders committed to fostering the arts. Susan’s LAI class conceived, planned and executed a virtual auction of work from local artists and galleries. Proceeds from the auction and donations from the community will help restore greenhouses at the Texas Discovery Gardens at Fair Park in Dallas.
“Susan shares Thompson Coburn’s commitment to civic and charitable engagement and women’s leadership opportunities,” said Dallas Managing Partner Nicole Williams. “She is a talented practitioner who has worked on sophisticated transactions for clients across a wide spectrum of industries. We’re delighted to welcome Susan to our Dallas office.”
“It’s a thrill to join Thompson Coburn’s Corporate and Securities practice,” said Susan. “I look forward to collaborating with my colleagues across the country and drawing on Thompson Coburn’s significant marketing and business development resources to grow my practice in Texas and beyond.”
