Thompson Coburn partner Shaun Broeker was featured in a recent St. Louis Business Journal article for his work spearheading the "Welcome Home STL" initiative. The program aims to attract and retain military veterans in the St. Louis region by marketing the city as a welcoming place for veterans and assisting businesses in hiring them.
“How can we brand St. Louis and let them know we’re open to them and we want them to come here?” he said. The initiative’s plans include creating a nonprofit organization and raising funds to market the effort nationwide.
Shaun is a U.S. Army veteran who served in the Army Reserves with the 620th Combat Sustainment Battalion. In 2009 and 2010, he deployed to Balad, Iraq, with the 90th Sustainment Brigade as an intelligence analyst.
Part of the inspiration for the “Welcome Home STL” initiative came from the St. Louis Mosaic Project, an agency that connects foreign-born newcomers with social and professional resources, Shaun said.
