Thompson Coburn;
Senior Counsel, 2021-Present
Dan has counseled and represented financial institutions in closing sophisticated commercial finance transactions for over 35 years. Dan has developed a significant business finance practice that focuses on structuring, negotiating and documenting business finance transactions and advising clients on workouts and restructurings. His clients include banks, finance, factoring and leasing companies, investment banks, merchant banks and other equity and credit providers.
Dan's practice runs the gamut from single lender/single borrower transactions to agented multi-lender/multi-borrower transactions. Many of the transactions which Dan has closed involve complex capital structures, cross border and trade finance issues and borrowers that operate in a cross-section of regulated and unregulated industries.
Some of Dan's recent matters include representing the lenders in the successful workout and restructure of a $185 million syndicated credit facility to a retail and wholesale apparel company, a $250 million syndicated credit facility to a retail jewelry company, and a $125 million credit facility to a retail and wholesale electronics company manufacturer.
Dan is a past President of the Association of Commercial Finance Attorneys. He is also a member of the American Bar Association's Business Section, and is a member of its Committee on Commercial Financial Services, Letter of Credit Subcommittee, Secured Lending Subcommittee and the Syndications and Participations Subcommittee. Dan is a Regent of the American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers and on the Leadership Council of the Commercial Finance Association Education Foundation. A former member of the Board of Editors of Leader's Equipment Leasing Newsletter, Dan has chaired as well as spoken at and prepared written monographs for numerous panels covering topics of interest to the business finance community.
