Diona represents financial institutions in commercial finance and secured transactions.
On behalf of major national financial institutions and regional banks, Diona assists in the documentation and closing of syndicated and bilateral secured and unsecured credit facilities. She has worked on complex loan transactions that have financed corporate and M&A activity throughout Chicago and across the U.S. and Canada.
Diona works closely with bankers on the legal and financial terms of proposed lending transactions, and drafts and negotiates the resulting credit agreements, subordination agreements and other loan documents, ensuring in each case that her client's interests are protected. She also helps banks amend credit documents or respond to changes in a borrower's status, including changes in collateral or corporate structure.
In this fast-paced industry, Diona manages multiple high-value deals while addressing specific client needs on each distinct transaction. She speaks the language of her financial services clients and shares with them any legal issues that she anticipates may impact a particular financing. Together, they work collaboratively to resolve any questions and pave the way for a successful transaction.
Prior to joining Thompson Coburn, Diona served as a compliance associate in a Chicago trading firm and worked as a corporate attorney representing clients on a variety of business and regulatory matters, including transactional matters, corporate governance, shareholder rights, operating and joint venture agreements and private placements. Diona holds both a J.D. and an MBA, enabling her to apply a strong business-minded perspective to legal matters.
Co-Chair of the firm's African American/Black affinity group.
