James Conway draws on his years of experience working on Capitol Hill to assist Thompson Coburn’s clients in all aspects of advocacy and policymaking. He supports the implementation of clients’ legislative agendas by monitoring the day-to-day actions of Congress.

James covers hearings, floor votes, and briefings to ensure client priorities are front and center for policymakers. He is skilled at tracking legislation across dozens of congressional committees, identifying opportunities, and arranging meetings with the legislative and executive branches and relevant industry partners. James also takes an active role in managing the complex and time-intensive back end of the appropriations process, including the submission of member requests and community project funding forms.

Before coming to Thompson Coburn, James spent four years working in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he learned Congress’ complex legislative and appropriations processes first-hand and the types of messages and advocacy that truly make an impact on lawmakers and their highly influential staffers.

James is the D.C. office lead for Thompson Coburn’s pro bono program.

I enjoy biking around D.C., trying new restaurants, debating foreign policy, and cheering on my hometown Boston sports teams.
