With over 20 years of experience at the forefront of corporate bankruptcy law, Janine Figueiredo has distinguished herself as an innovative legal strategist and powerful advocate.

She works with debtors, creditors’ committees, liquidating trustees, buyers of distressed assets, trade vendors, and secured and unsecured creditors to navigate the complexities of distressed situations in many industries, including finance, manufacturing, retail, media and entertainment, wholesale/distribution, and specialty chemicals. There is no corporate reorganization, restructuring or liquidation Janine cannot handle.

Janine has extensive experience in all aspects of bankruptcy matters including advising distressed companies on their restructuring options, negotiating DIP loans and 363 sales, negotiating and developing Chapter 11 plans, litigating complex plan appeal issues, and the defense and prosecution of avoidance actions. She takes a proactive approach to each case, guiding clients through every step.

She also leverages her experience as a member of the Executive Board of Directors of the Turnaround Management Association (TMA), the international nonprofit dedicated to corporate renewal and the turnaround industry, where she serves as the Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

I am a Girl Scout leader for my daughter’s troop. I never saw myself doing this, as I was never a Scout and knew little about the organization, but when my daughter was in kindergarten, she asked and I couldn’t say no. A few years in, it has been incredibly rewarding watching this amazing group of (now) young ladies become more confident and capable in the world and knowing that, in some small way, I was a part of that.
