Joy advises health systems, health plans, group purchasing organizations, physician groups, and other health care entities on a wide range of health care legal issues.
Joy helps health care clients navigate all phases of corporate growth and reorganization, whether through mergers, acquisitions or joint ventures. Detail-oriented and forward-looking, Joy works closely with clients through all steps of the transaction, from term sheet to close, while keeping the client's objectives at the center of every deal.
As the health care industry explores new compensation and reimbursement arrangements, Joy counsels clients on various alternatives to the traditional fee for service model. She helps health care providers establish innovative partnerships with payers and employers, including the development of risk-sharing arrangements.
For all types of health care entities, Joy assists with day-to-day operational matters, including hospital-physician alignment and contracting, licensing, and regulatory issues. She offers counsel on Stark and Antikickback laws, and has significant experience in HIPAA compliance and data privacy.
Additionally, Joy also represents clients in state insurance regulatory matters. She analyzes the need for insurance licenses, assists entities with obtaining such licenses, and facilitates ongoing filings and communications with state insurance regulators.
Having worked as senior counsel for a large multijurisdictional health system, Joy intimately understands the time pressures and budgetary constraints of in-house practitioners. For that reason, she focuses on providing timely, succinct legal advice on the myriad of issues encountered by health care entities each day.
