Laura Jordan represents employers throughout the United States in all aspects of employment law. She brings over 25 years of experience to develop practical but effective strategies to help employers manage the maze of state and federal workplace laws. Representing a client base that includes large corporations, manufacturers and financial institutions, as well as smaller charitable organizations, she provides astute guidance in hiring, terminations, leaves of absence, discrimination, immigration, disability accommodations and other issues.
Laura has extensive jury trial, arbitration and class action experience leading litigation teams that have prevailed in notable rulings throughout the U.S. A seasoned trial lawyer with extensive first-chair experience, she is known for her talent as an engaging storyteller of the facts. Laura distills complex issues to their key points and conveys them in clear, concise language — an approach that serves her well in the courtroom and in counseling to avoid litigation.
Laura’s background as a trial lawyer allows her help clients manage workplace issues before they resort to litigation. Always looking to minimize risks, she assists corporate leaders and human resource managers with high-level strategic workforce decision-making, providing effective advice based in part on insight gained from her prior in-house counsel secondments. She helps clients respond wisely to disruptive personnel incidents, such as workforce restructurings, terminations, accommodations and allegations of misconduct, so they can return their focus to commercial and professional goals as soon as possible.
Laura plays an instrumental role in firm leadership. She is chair of the Litigation Department, co-chair of the Labor and Employment practice group, a member of the Executive and Management Committees, and past chair of the Women’s Initiative.

- Successfully defended global IT consulting company in wage and hour class action alleging overtime misclassification in the Central District of California resulting in decertification of collective action and denial of class certification.
- Obtained directed verdict following four-day jury trial on behalf of national financial services institution in age discrimination claim in Southern District of Illinois.
- Secured total defense verdict of sexual harassment case following three-week jury trial in Union County, New Jersey, for global legal service provider.
- Secured dismissal of disability and failure-to-accommodate claim filed by physician against hospital system and successfully argued to have decision affirmed by the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals.
- Obtained decertification of conditionally certified class and denial of Rule 23 class certification of putative nationwide call center off-the-clock lawsuit.
