Michael is a partner in Thompson Coburn’s Corporate and Securities group and is co-chair of the firm’s Cannabis Practice. He is a versatile attorney with broad experience advising clients on corporate, regulatory and transactional matters, including mergers and acquisitions, real estate, and financing transactions.
Since first joining the firm in 2017, Michael has advised private and public clients and investors across a range of industries on legal issues including:

Michael was previously general counsel at STIIIZY, the nation’s top-selling cannabis brand, and he served as in-house counsel at Goldman Sachs in New York. From his robust in-house experience, Michael recognizes the importance of providing exceptional legal service, and his clients value his practical, entrepreneurial approach.
Michael has written extensively regarding legal and regulatory challenges to the cannabis industry, with articles appearing in publications including Law360 and the Los Angeles Daily Journal. He is the co-creator of the firm’s annual “Cannabis State-by-State Regulations” report.
A native of Los Angeles, Michael earned his J.D. from New York University School of Law and his B.B.A. from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. He is licensed to practice law in both California and New York.
