Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming the world around us, and the legal landscape is no exception. Our AI Practice Group is a multidisciplinary team of attorneys who are familiar with the legal and regulatory issues surrounding use of AI, including copyright, patent, contract, privacy, employment/HR, and health care.

We help our clients: 

• Understand the complex legal and regulatory landscape surrounding use of AI. This includes advising on copyright and licensing issues, drafting and negotiating terms and conditions for AI-powered products and services, and helping clients develop robust privacy and cybersecurity programs.
• Develop and implement AI-powered solutions to address business issues amidst an-evolving legal and regulatory landscape. We work with clients to identify and assess the practical risks associated with specific AI projects, and to develop strategies to mitigate those risks.
• Protect intellectual property rights in AI-related inventions. We help clients develop and implement IP protection strategies for their AI-powered products and services, including drafting and filing patent applications and negotiating IP licenses. We have been successful in obtaining many patents for our clients on inventions relating to AI technology.
• Resolve disputes involving AI. We represent clients in a variety of AI-related disputes, including copyright infringement, breach of contract, and product liability claims.
  

Specific areas we work in include:

• Copyright: We advise clients on copyright issues related to AI, including the copyright protection of AI-generated works, the licensing of AI software, and the use of copyrighted works in AI training datasets.
• Contracts: We help clients draft and negotiate terms and conditions for AI-powered products and services, including terms related to data collection and use, privacy, and intellectual property rights.
• Privacy and cybersecurity: We help clients develop and implement robust privacy and cybersecurity programs for their AI-powered products and services. We also advise clients on compliance with privacy laws and regulations, such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
• Health care: We advise health care providers and other organizations on the legal and regulatory issues surrounding the use of AI in the health care industry. This includes advising on privacy and security issues, as well as on regulatory compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
• Patents: We prosecute patent applications for our clients on AI-related technologies. We also litigate patents on EE/computer science matters including AI-technologies.

Our attorneys have a deep understanding of the legal and regulatory issues surrounding AI. We are also experienced in working with clients in a variety of industries, including technology, healthcare, and finance. Using a collaborative approach, we work closely with our clients to understand their business needs and develop tailored solutions that meet those needs and comply with applicable laws and regulations. With a team of attorneys located around the country, we advise clients on AI-related matters in multiple jurisdictions.
