Two of the most important global developments in privacy are the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). The two requirements share certain common elements, but also differ in noteworthy ways. As such, businesses preparing for one of the requirements may use some structures and lessons learned to prepare for the other.
Our trans-Atlantic panel will compare and contrast GDPR and CCPA to provide practical insights regarding compliance with each set of requirements. We will examine the scope, requirements and consumer rights under GDPR and CCPA through the review of a case study based on actual issues faced by clients. The panel will consider how implementations and interpretations of GDPR may assist in preparation for CCPA as well as how CCPA could affect the future of GDPR.
