The Regulatory Outlook for Higher Education

Webinar

The U.S. Department of Education will soon be under new management, and it’s anticipated that the agency’s new leadership will debut an ambitious and sweeping regulatory agenda. On January 28, Thompson Coburn’s Higher Education practice will offer a 90-minute webinar, during which it will contemplate the fate of the regulations slated to become effective this coming July, as well as the range of expansions, revisions, and revivals that are likely on the horizon.

The presenters will speculate regarding the incoming administration’s rulemaking activity and the possibility of revisions to the rules governing Title IX, the borrower defense framework, gainful employment, distance education, state authorization, and the composite score, among others. The presenters also will consider the likelihood of an HEA Reauthorization, and the impact a successful reauthorization might have on the Department’s regulatory activity.

Aaron Lacey, Chair of the Firm’s Higher Education Practice, will lead the discussion. He will be joined by Practice members Katie Wendel and Scott Goldschmidt, as well as by Chris Murray, Chair of the Firm’s Lobbying & Policy team.
