In recent months, the U.S. Department of Education has debuted an ambitious and sweeping regulatory agenda for institutions of higher education. On December 14, 2021, Aaron Lacey, the Chair of Thompson Coburn’s Higher Education practice, will host a 90-minute webinar during which he will examine the range of expansions, revisions, and revivals that presently are underway. The presenter will discuss likely revisions to the rules governing the borrower defense framework, closed school loan discharges, and Title IX, among others. He also will speculate regarding additional rulemaking activity that is on the horizon, and will discuss likely timelines for proposed and final rules.
