The C.R.O.W.N. Act stands for “Create a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair.” This presentation will first focus on the recent legislative enactment of the C.R.O.W.N. Act by numerous state legislatures across the country and the impact those laws will have on employers. We will explore the origin of the Act, its requirements, some differences amongst jurisdictions, and examples of claims that have been brought against employers. Then we will provide a summary of the marijuana laws that have been put into place in various states across the country over the last year. We will go through each state that has made changes to their laws and discuss how those changes may impact employers and their drug testing policies.
