Thompson Coburn’s Real Estate group recently supported Mills Properties Inc.’s acquisition of the West Pointe Apartments complex in St. Louis County. The $51 million transaction closed on Oct. 25.
The deal involved complex issues related to financing, liens, insurance claims, and environmental factors, and included extensive negotiations with equity investors and debt holders. Led by Real Estate partners Dan Engle and Hap Burke, attorneys from Thompson Coburn’s tax, corporate, environmental and business litigation groups worked together to support the purchase.
The 1,047-unit West Pointe complex adds to the 40 apartment communities managed by Mills Properties across the St. Louis region. Mills Properties posted $94.8 million in revenue in 2011, and in 2012 was named to the St. Louis Business Journal’s list of the region’s Top 150 Private Companies.
