More than 1,100 litigators and judges gathered in Chicago last month for the ABA Section of Litigation 2013 Annual Meeting. The registration for the meeting far surpassed recent meetings and was the largest on record for the Section. Led by Thompson Coburn partner and Section Chair Bill Bay, the Section of Litigation has more than 60,000 members and is the largest specialty section in the ABA.
Nearly 200 judges attended the meeting's opening night judicial reception. Bay addressed the attendees, as did the Hon. Frank Easterbrook, chief judge of the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, Illinois Supreme Court Chief Justice Thomas Kilbride, and Cook County Circuit Court Chief Judge Timothy Evans.
Joe Torre, Executive Vice President for Baseball Operations for Major League Baseball, was also a featured speaker at the meeting. The founder of the Safe at Home Foundation, Torre talked about the societal and individual effects of domestic violence on children.
