Mary Bonacorsi, a partner in the firm’s Business Litigation Group, is among a group of distinguished legal professionals from Missouri chosen as a 2016 Women’s Justice Awards winner by Missouri Lawyers Weekly.
Mary was named as one of just eight winners statewide in the Litigation Practitioner category. The award is presented “to female litigators who demonstrate leadership, professionalism and a passion for improving the quality of the justice system or contributing to the betterment of the profession.”
The 18th annual awards are the only ones of their kind, recognizing Missouri’s top women lawyers, judges, law students and legal professionals for their contributions to the profession.
Mary has served as a partner in Thompson Coburn's Business Litigation Group for 30 years. She has served as lead counsel in more than 75 jury and non-jury cases and is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. Her trial experience includes disputes of all types, including general commercial litigation defense and real estate and construction claims.
As Chairman Tom Minogue pointed out in a letter supporting Mary’s nomination: “Mary has made a special effort to mentor the women attorneys coming after her. She made it a point to give women opportunities to lead cases or assist on trials. As a result, an entire generation of women attorneys, including members of Thompson Coburn’s executive and management committees, gained critical experience and advice.”
Mary played a fundamental role in the creation of Thompson Coburn’s Total Commitment® Women’s Initiative, a comprehensive program that focuses on helping the firm’s women attorneys meet their full potential and promoting their achievements and contributions.
Mary and other winners from around the state will be honored at an April 14 ceremony at the Four Seasons Hotel in St. Louis.
