On September 18, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan St. Louis presented Thompson Coburn with the Board Chair’s Recognition Award, an annual recognition given to key members who have made a significant impact with the HCC. The award was presented as part of the HCC’s annual Adelante Award Gala.
In presenting the award, HCC Board Chair Facundo Oyenard highlighted Thompson Coburn’s support of the organization over the years, including the Firm’s sponsorship of the HCC’s Executive Insights program, hosting Board meetings at the Firm’s St. Louis office and more. Facundo emphasized the importance of the Executive Insights program and its importance to the HCC’s corporate members. Past speakers at Executive Insights have included Thompson Coburn partner Robert Shapiro, who addressed trade issues.
Thompson Coburn partner Claire Schenk accepted the award on behalf of the Firm and is a member of the HCC’s Board of Directors. In her remarks, Claire noted Thompson Coburn’s commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace. “Our Firm leadership recognizes that diversity gives us important perspectives, that when we have more diverse voices in the room – and in positions of influence at all levels of our Firm – it provides huge advantages to our organization and our clients. This honor from HCC recognizes those efforts, and it also serves as a reminder that we must continue creating pipelines for underserved and underrepresented individuals.”
The HCC is a private, non-profit corporation founded to improve business opportunities for Hispanic firms and in the St. Louis region. The organization attempts to strengthen Hispanic enterprise and small and minority business integration to promote sustainable socioeconomic development and a better quality of life in the St. Louis region.
