Thompson Coburn partner John Howard authored a Law360 article on the call for alignment between the quality and experience of healthcare, and even more structured partnerships between providers and payors. John outlines five types of partnership or alignment models for providers and payors, ranging from least to most structurally aligned, generally reflecting the amount of financial risk and reward available.
"To be sure, some alignment and partnership efforts have been successful, but much work remains to overcome misaligned incentives and shift the financial benefit of coordinated and aligned care to reflect common purposes being between payors and providers," he wrote.
