Thompson Coburn associate Kayla Siam received recognition as a “Woman who Advocates for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion” at a Women’s History Month Tea hosted by Governors State University. Kayla graduated from the university in 2014 and has served for nearly two years on its DEI Council, which focuses on improving the school’s DEI efforts for students, faculty, alumni, and the community.
In January 2023, Kayla attended the Executives’ Club of Chicago – Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility Summit on behalf of the university with Karen Williams-Blackman, Manager of Enrollment and External Relations for the College of Business. She also served on a special committee during the summer of 2023 to review and award $25,000 in grant funds to members of the GovState community that focused on DEI initiatives during the 2023-24 academic year. In her free time, Kayla mentors young women and people of color in both law and business.
