Thompson Coburn Legal Support Services Administrator Cindy Casey is an honoree in the 2024 Unsung Legal Hero Awards, presented by Missouri Lawyers Weekly. The statewide awards honor the “behind the scenes” professionals who play a key role in the success of a law firm.
The Unsung Legal Heroes awards are featured in the July 10 edition of Missouri Lawyers Weekly and honor eight categories of law firm professionals, from paralegals to law librarians to IT professionals. Cindy joined Thompson Coburn in 1989 as a legal secretary. In 2021, she was promoted to Legal Administrative Support Coordinator, and in 2022, she was again promoted to Legal Support Services Administrator, a firmwide position with greater responsibility performing assignments associated with practice support services. In this role, she regularly writes and presents content to the legal administrative support teams. She coordinates with team leads to ensure adequate workflow and coverage and oversees reporting analytics. Always looking for a new challenge, Cindy’s knowledge and skills often lead her to projects beyond those specifically outlined in her job description.
Below is the Q&A with Cindy that appears in Missouri Lawyers Weekly:
What led you to choose a career in the legal field?
Growing up I wanted to be Della Street, Perry Mason’s legal secretary. I can check that off my wish list because I was a legal secretary for over 40 years before I took this position.
What is something that would surprise people about you?
My husband and I spent our honeymoon at church camp as the music ministers. While the leaders gave us a cabin of our own, we had bunk beds, no running water and an old wooden floor filled with splinters. It was a crazy way to start a marriage, but we have just celebrated our 45th anniversary.
