FOCUS St. Louis has selected partner Cherie Stephens Bock for the 2014-2015 class of Leadership St. Louis, one of the most respected leadership development programs in the nation.
Starting in September, Cherie — along with other leaders from the financial, health care, nonprofit and education sectors — will embark on a nine-month immersion in all facets of the St. Louis community. On-site visits will connect the leaders with critical issues facing the St. Louis community in the areas of economic development, race, poverty, the environment, and more.
As a partner in Thompson Coburn’s Banking and Commercial Finance department, Cherie represents financial institutions and borrowers in secured and unsecured lending transactions, including agribusiness, maritime, acquisition, and syndicated lending facilities. She also routinely represents financial institutions with respect to transactions involving automobiles, recreational vehicles, and marine dealer floor plan financing.
Before joining private practice, Cherie served as a bank examiner and statistical analyst at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. She earned her law degree, summa cum laude, from Saint Louis University School of Law and obtained a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Cherie is an Advisory Board Member of the Missouri Office of the Adoption Exchange, an organization that helps provide forever families to children in the state’s foster care system. She is also a board member of Volunteer Lawyers and Accountants for the Arts and a member of the Junior League of St. Louis.
Thompson Coburn has a rich history with Leadership St. Louis. Past class members have included partners David Dick, Lori Jones, and Laura Jordan, among others.
