Chicago corporate partner David Kaufman talked to Law360 about his most challenging deals, regulatory matters and trends in his practice, and offered advice for up-and-coming corporate attorneys.
The article was part of Law360’s 2014 “Dealmakers” series, which shares insights from deal-making movers and shakers in various practice areas, including mergers and acquisitions, private equity, real estate and project finance.
Kaufman said the deal environment is getting tougher with more competition for lawyers, bankers and other participants. “To find new opportunities and accomplish the goals of your client, you have to be more creative, work harder and think differently. For example, when I am told ‘no’ or ‘that won’t work,’ we have to find a way to accomplish the client’s goals,” according to Kaufman. “Often it means developing and implementing a novel strategy not used before.”
St. Louis partner Fred Strasheim was featured earlier this summer as part of the series .
