On April 3, Thompson Coburn partner and Vice-Chair of our Real Estate practice Gayle Mercier participated in a Table of Experts with the St. Louis Business Journal, which highlighted the “Business of Cannabis.” Gayle was joined by representatives from Anders CPAs + Advisors and Cannabis Security and Technology Solutions.
The conversation detailed many of the biggest challenges that medical marijuana businesses will face as Missouri looks to begin operations. Gayle discussed the myriad of legal and regulatory challenges potential cannabis companies and investors will face including finding the right real estate, zoning, business formation, taxation, banking, security, transportation and HIPAA concerns.
When asked about the importance of industry experience, Gayle drove home that fact that we have the real experience that Missouri businesses want in their legal counsel because we currently provide legal services in current cannabis markets through our Los Angeles and Chicago offices.
