Thompson Coburn is committed to assisting communities by meeting the legal needs of nonprofit entities. Whether decoding federal and state tax-exempt laws and regulations, managing charitable contributions, trusts or endowments, or advising boards and staff on their roles and responsibilities, our practice provides a full array of legal services to nonprofits of any size so that they can meet the needs of others.
Nonprofit organizations range from multibillion-dollar health care systems to small, neighborhood organizations. Our roster of international, national and regional nonprofit clients include The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, Mercy Health System and the National Safety Council. We are also proud to represent cultural and charitable organizations such as the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra, Saint Louis Zoo, American Heart Association, and MERS/Goodwill Industries.
For some organizations and institutions, we serve as general counsel or primary outside counsel. For others, our work is focused on a specific transaction or operational matter. We draw on the experience of more than 380 lawyers in virtually all major areas of law to provide corporate and litigation services and advice in areas such as public finance, tax, intellectual property, charitable giving, human resources and real estate.
